Severe Mental illness
4% of the US population suffer from severe mental illness,
50% of this population suffer from anasognosia
A direct link of untreated severe mental illness and violence
have clearly been established the consequence of untreated severe mental illness
without question both socially and economically go beyond calculation
1999 a California treatment advocacy formed
Assembly woman Helen Thompson bill was finally signed by Gray Davis
marking the largest reform made in decades.
Fashioned after New Yorks kendras law
1421 also known as Lauras law passed in California
This law brings hope and treatment to the severely mentally ill.
And yet it cannot be used unless it is implemented in your county.
Why would any county withhold treatment .
Kendras law is proven sucessful as the numbers of hospitalizations
incarsaration and homelessness have reduced significantly.
Then why with every school shooting every death and lost life
making every county implement this law should be a no brainer right?
Guess agian we live in a society where money that is printed on paper
has become more valuable than saving human life ? Maybe insurance? maybe civil rights?
A guise supposed to protect and actually does the opposite incarrsarates.
Enough is enough Lauras Law now
join me in breaking the silence of unheard voices
